About Me
Hi! I’m Aaron Safer-Rosenthal, a UX designer with a background in cybersecurity and a passion for motion-driven, interactive experiences. I blend technical problem-solving with creative exploration, designing engaging, accessible, and immersive digital experiences.
From Cyber Security to UX
For the past three years, I’ve worked as an Application Security Consultant, solving complex challenges in enterprise security. My role focused on designing secure systems that enhance digital trust—bridging technical expertise with human-centered thinking—a foundation that naturally extends into UX design.
In this role, my key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a subject matter expert for application teams
- Providing hands-on security guidance
- Liaising with vendors to ensure security compliance
This blend of technical expertise and human-centered thinking naturally extends into UX design—where the challenge isn’t just solving problems, but solving them in ways that are intuitive and seamless.
My problem-solving journey started with a Bachelor of Computing (Honours) at Queen’s University, where I switched from General Arts after discovering my passion for structured problem-solving. Some of my most meaningful experiences included:
- Acting as a Teaching Assistant for the Algorithms course, mentoring students and marking assignments. Seeing their growth over the semester was especially rewarding.
- Collaborating on a game development project, working with two peers to create an interactive and dynamic experience. Click here to play it!
Alongside my professional experience, I’ve earned the AWS Solutions Architect Associate and CompTIA Security+ certifications, deepening my expertise in cloud architecture, digital trust, and secure user experiences.
Blending Creativity & Problem Solving
Beyond security and systems thinking, I’ve always had a creative side. I’ve played piano since I was eight, rediscovering my passion during the pandemic. I also love drawing and painting—from sketching comic characters and animals to creating large-scale acrylic pieces in my Zaidy’s art studio.
These artistic experiences shape my perspective as a designer, blending logic with movement, structure with fluidity.
UX & the Future
My transition into UX began with personal projects and the BrainStation UX Design Certificate program, where I explored:
- User research & mapping their problems
- An iterative design process
- Accessibility & industry standards
Designing and building this portfolio website has been an exciting challenge—an opportunity to experiment, refine ideas, and grow as a designer.
Outside of Work
When I’m not designing or creating, you’ll find me:
- Watching NFL games every Sunday and debating draft prospects with my brother.
- Weightlifting & hot yoga—my go-to balance of strength and movement.
- Enjoying time with family & friends.
I hope this gives you a glimpse into my journey. Let’s create something amazing together!
